This is an ok read but Eddings seems to have the same stock characters doing the same things in his series. Ehlana, Queen of Elenia, has been poisoned. No one seems to notice dvid 6 knights died for nothing while they were running back and forth in search of the cure. Maybe that’s what he was going for, who knows.

I just tthe fathom leaving that sort of thing so undeveloped. As you can see I gave it three stars as a sign of my overall enjoyment of the books. Sparhawk can touch it because he was destined to! Pointless side quests abound. The characters are already old and seasoned. If he was so unpredictable, why was it painfully obvious what he was going to do next.

Whoever designed the cover on the Del Rey mass market paperback should be severely chastened chastised. So if you haven’t already, finish The Diamond Throne and then take up this novel – The Ruby Knightwhich I give four out of five cavid.
