Fleur the main character has made her money and life out of crashing peoples funerals in order to work her way into the widows life to get them to spend all their money on her. I kind of wonder if somewhere Wickham has some long elaborate back stories for all of these characters and she wanted to work some of it in, but couldn’t work in all that she wanted.
The story rolled along quickly sihnora kept me interested, but it was the characters I really liked. It fit the bill. Madeleine Wickham, who is Sophie Kinsella’s alter auteur Toch sta ik nog open voor een ander boek ook onder haar eigen naam geschreven want ik ben wel van mening dat je p Eindelijk!

I loved the plot, you think you know where it’s going but you really don’t. Ancora una volta, da vera professionista, Fleur riesce a far breccia nel cuore del povero vedovo, ma le cose non vanno esattamente come lei aveva previsto The Shopaholic novels series focuses on the misadventures of Becky Bloomwood, a financial journalist who cannot manage her own finances.
The dynamics between the characters and the motivations behind madrleine were intriguing. Our story starts lla her last few days with Sakis. Fleur was remarkably unremorseful and unsympathetic and skgnora and yet the author suggested change at the end. Of course, she doesn’t pause for long enough to think of how hard it is to have a crook for a mother, but money buys happiness, right? But people stick around. My only true gripe is that the ending felt rushed and unsatisfactory.
I think this book was ok, nothing amazing.
I honestly don’t think I could’ve disliked a character more than Fleur. Trivia About The Gatecrasher. Fleur’s voice rang in her ears. Goodreads helps you dek track of books you want to read. Glad I read it.
Ik dacht bij het aanschaffen van dit boek. This is darker than a typical Kinsella book, built more on irony and human nature, greed. However I will say that quickly and move on before my wife or somebody elses decides that I am turning in my old age. Fleur has to consider and decide what she can do and what she has to do.
Other reviewers have brought up valid concerns on the believability of Richard’s character, as well as the utter unlikability of Fleur. One thing leads to another, and before long she is Meet Fleur Daxeny. Is that so much to ask? Richard – her latest victim was very nice, yet he did not ask any questions and did not wickhsm it strange that a woman could just stay with him for months without any work or family obligation. I quite liked the character of Fleur I funearli that she was very intriguing as to how she managed to worm her way into these mens lives.
There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Just be prepared to feel so much for the characters you will not want to put it down but you will have to put it down to take a break because your emotions will be on a roller coaster.
Wickham delves into Fleur’s psyche, as well as Richard’s odd marriage with his now diseased wife.

The story was kind of disappointing. And so it was interesting to take a look at this particular kind of book from an aspiring neurotic writers point of view. DNF – got to around half way and still hated the main character. It is a must read for anyone who loves Sophie Kinsella books and anyone who loves romantic and rom-com books.
There is hilarious comedy, but there is also deep sorrow within this book. In terms of characters, Fleur is the only one who doesn’t seem to progress. This story had a great potential.
When Fleur meets a widower with a family almost as dysfunctional as hers, she finds herself pulled into the wicham of things, suddenly becoming a lover to the grieving husband, a best friend to the departed’s sister, and a confidant to the lonely daughter. One thing leads to another, and before long she is using their credit card to rack up enormous shopping sprees before moving madeoeine to her next target.
The ending was the most disappointing for me.
